Sizes & Pricing

At the time of writing, US-Mattress has 24 mattress brands in stock, including Casper, Tempurpedic, and Nectar. If you’re on a budget, it’s better to stick with the “Under $1,000”, “Under $500,” or “Under $300” filters; if not, you can find the perfect mattress and go wild!

US-Mattress offers mattresses in all of the standard sizes as well as certain custom sizes like RV mattresses, boat mattresses, and semi-truck mattresses.

To give you an idea of what to expect, this review includes brief descriptions, prices, and construction details for three of the company’s best mattresses, the Serta Perfect Sleeper; the Tempurpedic Adapt, and the Stearns & Foster Estate.

Tempurpedic Adapt

The Tempurpedic Adapt mattresses are all 11″ tall.

  • Twin –  38″ x 75″ – costs $1,699
  • Twin XL – 38″ x 80″ – costs $1,699
  • Full – 53″ x 75″ – costs $2,049
  • Queen – 60″ x 80″ – costs $2,199
  • King – 76″ x 80″ – costs $2,899
  • Cal King – 72″ x 84″ – costs $2,899

Stearns & Foster Estate Rockwell Luxury

The Stearns & Foster Estate Rockwell Luxury mattresses all measure 14.5″ tall. It is not available in twin size.

Serta Perfect Sleeper

Each Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress is 14.5″ tall.

  • Twin XL – 38″ x 80″ – costs $1,669
  • Full – 53″ x 75″ – costs $1,699
  • Queen – 60″ x 80″ – costs $1,789
  • King – 76″ x 80″ – costs $2,149
  • Cal King  – 72″ x 84″ – costs $2,099

These particular mattresses aren’t cheap, but they’re well-made and offer great value. US-Mattress also runs a number of promotions, as is the norm with mattress retailers like this. There are flash sales offering deep discounts on a number of beds and accessories and some mattresses also come with gift cards.

The Tempurpedic, for instance, is promoted with a “Free $300 Visa Gift Card”.
A “120-Night Money-Back Guarantee” is advertised as well. It claims that you can test the mattress out completely risk-free and simply return it for a refund if you don’t like it. It’s a generous offer, and it exceeds the length of typical sleep trials, but it’s not as “free” as the wording might lead you to believe.

In fact, you’ll be hit with a processing fee and a restocking fee equal to 20% of the sticker price (up to $500). If we use the Tempurpedic Adapt CAL King as an example, you will pay a $139 processing fee and the maximum $500 restocking fee (20% = $579.80, which exceeds the limit) for a total of $639.

It’s certainly better than paying nearly $3k for a mattress you don’t like, but that’s a sizeable fee!

Construction

Mattress-US offers dozens of brands and seemingly every type of mattress construction imaginable. Among the mattress types you’ll find available from Mattress-US, you’ll find:

  • Hybrid
  • Innerspring
  • Memory Foam
  • Double-Sided
  • Single-Sided
  • Organic
  • Latex
  • and more!

Here are more details about the three specific mattresses we’ve decided to use as examples in this review:

The Tempurpedic Adapt is one of the most popular products on the site, and not without reason. Although expensive, it’s a very well-built mattress that features Tempur’s unique memory foam material, with padding, comfort, and cooling layers. It offers a medium level of support and is 11 inches in total. It’s listed as an affordable way to experience Tempurpedic, which is true, but it’s only affordable if you have $2k burning a hole in your wallet.

The Stearns and Foster is a little more traditional and is an ultra-plush bed that combines an Indulge Memory Foam layer with extra soft gel foam and a Tencel cover. It’s a thick 14.5 inches and is cheaper than the Tempurpedic, providing truly affordable luxury.

As for the Serta Perfect Sleeper, it’s a double-sided 14.25-inch mattress that will appeal to a more budget-conscious consumer. Not only is it the cheapest of the three, but there is a flash sale at the time of writing, and it seems to attract regular discounts, bringing that price down even further.

The Perfect Sleeper is a plush bed with an antimicrobial cover, a Serta insulator pad, a 2-inch gel foam layer, and an 800 continuous coil support. If you like your beds plush, bouncy, cool, and cheap, you can’t go much wrong with this one.

Mattress Cover

Again, you’ll find that US-Mattress mattresses come with many different types of covers. As an example, here are details for three:

The Tempurpedic Adapt features a removable cover made of ultra-high molecular weight yarn. This material pulls heat away from the body so you can sleep cool. The cover of the Stearns and Foster mattress is also designed to keep you cool and dry at night. It’s made up of Tencel fabric, which you’ll often find in athleticwear. Finally, the Serta Perfect Sleeper has a CoolFeel Cover that is breathable, cool to the touch, and luxuriously soft.

Firmness, Feel & Support

US-Mattress offers mattress models of all different firmness levels, so there’s definitely something for everyone! In fact, you can filter your search by preferred “comfort level.” Just a few of the options offered include: Extra Firm, Medium, Medium Firm, Plush, Ultra Plush, Luxury Firm, and Firm, among others.

Of the three mattresses described in this review, the firmest is the Tempurpedic Adapt, which ranks about a 7.5 out of 10 on a 1-10 firmness scale, with 10 being the firmest. The Stearns & Foster is a solid medium firmness ranking at 5/10. Finally, the Serta Perfect Sleeper is the plushest model, about a 4 on the firmness scale.

Purchase & Delivery Process

There are drop-down menus on each product page, and these can be used to tweak the box spring, add a frame, and change your delivery option. Financing is also available, and US-Mattress sells furniture and bedding if you need a few new sheets or want some nightstands to go alongside your new mattress.

Free delivery is available on all mattresses and delivery takes between 2 and 4 weeks. An in-home setup option is offered as well, whereby a team will deliver, unpack, and take the packaging away. This white glove service is available for free on some mattresses but is provided for a fee on others. In the three examples mentioned above, for instance, only the cheaper Serta mattress charges for this service ($99).

The warranty differs by manufacturer. If there is an issue that is covered by the warranty, you will need to contact the company and wait for your claim to be approved. A freight company will then contact you to arrange for collection. If you have had the mattress for less than a year, this process will be free; if not, you will be hit with a $175 shipping charge.

Customer support

US-Mattress is very professional when it comes to customer support. It’s quick and there are a few different means of contacting them. The company has very high ratings on all most user review sites, and many consumers praise this aspect in particular.

Final Word

US-Mattress had very humble beginnings, launching in 2001 with just 4 employees. In the two decades since, it has grown into one of the country’s biggest mattress retailers. It operates 6 retail stores, has over 90 employees on the payroll, and has served more than half a million customers.

The good thing about going through retailers like this is that you’re always going to find something for your budget. The bad thing is that they have more costs to consider, and these can be passed onto the consumer. You’re still going to get an affordable mattress and the sticker prices are very reasonable, but if you need to take advantage of the 120-Night Money-Back Guarantee, you may wish that you purchased directly from a manufacturer.

Of course, US-Mattress isn’t the only one charging processing fees and restocking fees, they just seem to be much larger than you would pay elsewhere.

If you’re looking for a cheap mattress or you have already tested the mattress and are ready to buy, US-Mattress is perfect. If not, you may want to look elsewhere.
