Overview
Saatva is an online mattress retailer offering their Saatva Classic mattress with three different firmness levels in order to cater to the needs of most people. Saatva also offers a Modern Foam mattress for a quality sleep experience at a lower cost and a Latex Hybrid for those sleepers who prefer the feel of latex. Saatva offers financing options, delivers directly to your doorstep, and makes their mattresses right here in the USA.
Construction
Saatva Classic
The Saatva Classic mattress combines wrapped comfort coils, foam layers, edge support, and a cotton cover. It’s constructed from the following layers:
Foam layer: Under the quilted cover is a memory foam enhancement layer which is responsible for providing exceptional pressure relief and continuous airflow. Saatva uses CertiPUR-US foam.
Individually wrapped coils: This layer of wrapped coils adds bounce to the mattress and helps in providing body support. These coils also play a part in the mattress isolating motion.
Support layer: The support layer comprises of steel coils which act as the mattress’ support layer and also help in making the user feel adequately supported. These coils along with the ones placed above them add to the bounce of the mattress and add to its pressure-responsiveness.
Foundation: The last layer of the mattress is made up of high-density polyfoam. This foundation acts as the mattress’ edge support and ensures that the mattress keeps its shape at all times.
Saatva Latex Hybrid
The Saatva Latex Hybrid features four layers, not counting the organic cotton cover. They are as follows:
Organic wool layer: Sitting right beneath the cover of the mattress, this organic New Zealand wool layer acts as a natural fire retardant while also being breathable to prevent overheating at night.
Talalay latex layer: Talalay is considered a premium latex and of higher quality than Dunlop latex. This layer provides the sleeper with support and is very responsive to the body. Nevertheless, you won’t feel like you sink into it as much as you would with memory foam. This latex layer has a five zone design that provides more firmness and pressure relief specifically in the lumbar region.
Quantum edge coil unit: In this layer, you’ll find three types of coils that work together to provide incredible support while contouring to your body, isolate motion, and provide excellent edge support.
Organic eco loft pad: The final layer of the Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress provides stability for your mattress and all of the layers above it.
Saatva Modern Foam
The Saatva Modern Foam has four layers of foam, including latex and cooling foams.
Natural Latex Lumbar Support Layer: The use of latex adds to the strength and durability of the mattress, giving you extra sleep support and making it last longer than most foam mattresses.
Hi-Airflow Convoluted Foam Layer: This layer allows the airflow to move throughout the mattress enhancing its cooling properties.
Cooling Gel-Infused Memory Foam Layer: Absorbs heat as well as contains memory foam properties to contour to and hug your body.
Premium Base Support Core Foam: A dense layer of foam which contributes ultimate support, comfort and durability
Saatva mattresses are made in the USA.
Mattress Cover
The Saatva Classic, Hybrid Latex, and Modern Foam mattresses feature covers that are made of soft and breathable GOTS-certified organic cotton. The cover is foam-quilted, adding to the mattress’s pressure relief and its gentleness. Due to an antimicrobial fabric treatment, the cover is bacteria-resistant.
Firmness, Feel & Support
The firmness, feel, and support of the Saatva Classic and Saatva Latex Hybrid are a bit different. The Saatva Classic allows you to choose between three firmness levels: Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, and Firm.
The Plush Soft mattress is better for people who sleep on their sides or are combination sleepers. If you choose Plush Soft, it will score about a 3 on a scale of 1-10 (with 1 being softest and 10 being firmest).
Their Luxury Firm mattress is the most popular, and it also offers good overall support. Regardless of your sleeping position, you shouldn’t feel a noticeable amount of sinkage within the mattress and instead should be able to feel that your weight is equally distributed across the mattress. Luxury Firm scores about a 6 on the 1-10 firmness scale. The Saatva Latex Hybrid is also considered medium-firm and would feel similar to this level in firmness.
Their firmest option, which is just called Firm, is more like an 8 on the 1-10 firmness scale. This option is best for people who sleep primarily on their backs or stomachs, not on their sides. It’s also a good choice for heavier bodies if you don’t want to feel like you sink into the mattress too much.
When it comes to motion transfer, as long as the intensity of motion is not enough to engage the coil layers, the mattress does a great job at isolating motion. However, when the movement is intensive enough to involve the coil layers, the motion does get transferred.
As for bounce, the Latex Hybrid will feel a bit more bouncy than the Saatva Classic. Edge support in both mattresses are very good, particularly in the Latex Hybrid thanks to the different types of coils used around the perimeter.
Purchase & Delivery Process
After selecting the options you desire in your mattress, all you have to do is to go through the simple online process of paying for it. The delivery process is also seamless, as the shipping is free and you get white-glove delivery along with mattress removal. Saatva does not charge a cancellation fee prior to the day of delivery. Does this mattress need a separate box spring and does it include a bed frame?
Does the mattress have side handles, and is the mattress flipable? What about rotation?
Both myself and husband have some serious back issues, so which of your mattress do you feel would be best for us?
I don’t want a really hard or firm mattress but husband doesn’t want one that is too soft where you sink down and makes it hard to roll over or get out of bed. Also, which height do you feel would be best? We have a King Size and feel that is what we would want to continue to have.
Of your top five mattresses on this list…is there one that you would recommend for a side sleeper about 250 lbs? I’ve been looking at the Necter and Dreamcloud quite a bit but struggling to make a final choice in any of them.
can this matresss be put on an adjustable bed frame
Are you still giving a discount to military retirees?
Can you pay for/receive setup in your bedroom? Can you pay for/remove & dispose of my current mattress?
How much does it weigh?
Do you offer nectar mattress?
I already have a foundation. Will the Lineal adjustable base work with my foundation?
Does the price also include the box springs?
I have had my Tempurpedic for 20+ years. My back hurts every morning (I have a bad back to begin with) and I’m looking for a new bed, but the Tempurpedic current prices are just too high. I have it on a base. I prefer not to replace the base but in your comments it notes that you need to get the Saatva base? Also, my current mattress is about 10″….How do I decide if I want the 11.5 or the 14? Will the 14 be softer/harder than the 11.5?
reviews are good but where can I actually test the Saatva mattresses with adjustable lineal frame out
If for some reason we are not satisfied with the bed, what is the process for returning it.
You remove the old mattress, what about the box springs?
My wife and I are both side and back sleepers Our current mattress makes that hard to do for it is too firm. We often wake with stiffness, neck, back and arm pain. What mattress do you feel is best for us?
If you decide to return the mattress within 120 trial periold, i am aware of the $99 fee but what if you just want to exchange the mattress.. if i bought the luxury firm and exchange it for the soft plush. Is that a fee too? I am considering saatva or beatyrest hybrid .
I have a Tempurpedic adjustable base. Will that work with your mattress?
Saatva offers a $100 discount to Veterans. Can I get this discount if I buy the mattress from you folks? And if so what do I need to do to get the discount?
free shipping ?
I have a foam mattress that has a dip on both sides where we lay, my husband sits on the side of the bed for short periods and that area has also dipped, will this mattress do the same?
Since this bed does not need box springs and uses a bed frame, what exactly is the foundation?
My wife and I have had our SAATVA matress for one year and we LOVE it…… I spent sooooo much money in the past on high end mattresses and the SAATVA beats the heck out of those… GREAT JOBB !!!!
Thank You !!!

We have a platform bed with drawers. Will this mattress be ok with platform ?
On the split king size mattress, can you get Saatva on one side and Nectar on the other side.
We have a King Size bed with split box springs, metal frame and a headboard. We have had to replace our King mattress more often than we should have had to due to sagging. (3 times in 10 years) Our weight (individual and combined) should not be a problem. Years ago, we would rotate and flip the mattress every 3 – 4 months, but today’s mattresses are to be rotated only. We are interested in the Saatva Cal. King, Luxury Firm after reading the information and reviews. My question, is it recommended to replace the box springs and frame when… Read more »

I have a King size (2 twins) Craftmatic bed. Will your split king mattress work with that frame?
How do you determine depth of sagging or depth of body impressions that may occur during warranty time frame?
Nice that you give 3 months to determine if you like the mattress. However, that leaves one question. If you take the old mattress and we want to exchange the mattress or a refund, what do we do use in the mean time for sleeping? Searched in info you gave and for previous questions. Did not find this question.

Please help! My wife and I tried the very firm mattress, but it was way to hard! Then we tried the next type of firmness, but it was still to hard for us! My wife has really bad arthritis! Well, the soft mattress only lasted for 3 months! We decided to try the soft mattress one more time! Please, any suggestions!

We live in a one bedroom condo. Since we have guests occasionally, we purchased two tween size mattresses to use when needed. Could we place these two tween size mattresses underneath the Saatva king size mattress to store during periods when we have no guests?
We have a king size bed with an adjustable mattress that allows raising the head and foot, as well as providing massage. Would this under-mattress be compatible with anything you could build?
Ok we have two queen size beds both have box springs and one is on a frame that has head board and boards across the bott0m of the frame with a connected to a foot board. . Both beds are quiet high. I was wondering if your frame fits inside of the Oak frame of the one bed. The other bed is on medal frame no head or foot board, both have box springs. I think I would need the box springs to get the height?
Saatva also offers an adjustable bed. The Queen size measures 6o" x 80".
When purchasing a Saatva mattress, you can specify whether you prefer 11.5" height or 14.5" height. Box springs are not required for Saatva mattresses.
what mattress do you recommend for a stomach sleeper. A Saatva is a great choice since you can specify how firm you’d like the mattress to be.
I weigh 350lbs and my wife is at 210lbs do we have to get a HD mattress?
Does sativa set up the mattress upon delivery? Will you remove the old mattress and bedding packaging etc.? Is there a cost for mattress Removal?
We have allergies here so we purchased a bamboo mattress about 10 years ago, which states it does not get dust mites. However it creaks since day 1 and we both do not sleep well. I get migraines nightly and could use a raised bed. So do you have available 2 twins we can put together where we get the adjustable frame for 1 and regular frame for the other. 2 twins equal a full size right?
Hi, I’m looking for a California King sized adjustable split. We have a Cal King platform bed now. I assume we have to buy a new frame with the mattress, or is it possible to use an adjustable split mattress within the bed frame we now have?
Your site is the most informative on all fronts, great info but still not sure what’s best for my veteran husband with lower back pain and my lower back and hip pains. Will continue to review and hopefully will decide soon as I want to take advantage of your Memorial Day sales. Thank you.
After reading the comments, I am still not sure if it’s possible to use our box springs. We have a conventional bed frame, box springs, then the mattress. Do we need another form of support other than the box springs? Can we use our current bed frame and box springs? Thanks for your response.
which of the top 5 are: 1) latex, 2) come in split king, 3) have adjustable frame
