Overview
Idle Sleep makes five models of mattresses that are built to last long and provide the user with an optimal sleeping experience. The Idle is their classic gel foam mattress and is the most affordable option. The Hybrid combines coils with CertiPUR-US foams. The Idle Gel Plush is a luxury gel foam mattress. Idle also has a Dunlop Latex mattress as well as a Talalay Latex mattress, both of which are hybrids. All Idle Sleep mattresses come with an 18 month trial period and a lifetime warranty.
Construction
Each model of Idle Sleep mattresses has its own unique and thoughtful construction. Here is an overview of the mattress designs:
Idle
The classic Idle mattress is composed of 3″ of cooling buoyancy foam, 2″ of supportive transition foam which includes perforated foam for breathability, and a 7″ high-density foam base made of 2.4 lb foam core density for extra stability.
Idle Plush
The Idle Gel Plush contains 1″ of cooling buoyancy foam that includes a gel infusion to help you sleep cool while relieving pressure. After a fire-resistant barrier comes 2″ of gel-infused buoyancy foam for more pressure relief and support. Three-inches of custom memory foam make up the next layer, followed by an 8″ high-density foam base for stability and durability.
Idle Hybrid
The Idle Hybrid mattress combines coils with foam for an incredibly supportive and comfortable feel. Its layers include 1″ of contouring foam that’s actually quilted into the cover, 2″ of buoyancy foam for pressure relief while contouring to your body, 1″ of supportive transition foam, and 6″ of quantum edge-to-edge wrapped coils to limit motion transfer while providing support.
Idle Latex Hybrid
Idle Sleep offers two choices of latex hybrid mattresses: one with Dunlop latex and one with Talalay latex. Talalay is considered the more premium variety of latex, hence the higher price. The layers for these two mattresses are the same. The only difference is which type of latex is used in the latex layer. Beneath the cover, the first layer is 1″ of soft wool that acts as a natural fire barrier while also providing comfort. Next comes 3″ of the latex of your choice followed by 6″ of quantum edge-to-edge wrapped coils. The coils provide good edge support while preventing motion transfer that may otherwise wake you during the night.
Mattress Cover
The Idle mattress features both a removable and washable base cover as well as a top cover. The quilted top cover contains thermal capabilities to help you sleep at a comfortable temperature.
The Idle Plush has the same removable base cover as the Idle, but the top cover is different. In this model, you’ll find what Idle calls its Ice Fabric Cover. This quilted cover is super soft and feels fresh to the touch thanks to the cool gel sewn incorporated within its fabric.
The Idle Hybrid features a Thermocool™ fabric cover to help you sleep at a comfortable temperature. It also features handles so you can easily move the mattress and flip it over as well.
The cover on the Latex Hybrid mattresses is made up of soft, breathable cotton and double button tufting soft yarn rosettes that hold the latex layers together, instead of glue. The mattress includes handles so you can easily move or flip it.
Firmness, Feel & Support
The Idle and the Idle Plush are both considered medium in terms of firmness, though the Plush is slightly softer (more like a 4.5-5.5 on a scale of 1-10 for firmness, whereas the Idle is a 5.5-7). This makes the Idle Plush better for side sleepers and lighter bodies. All sleep positions should be comfortable on the Idle, though again, heavier bodies may prefer a firmer mattress so they won’t sink as much into it.
The Idle and Idle Plush have cooling gel infusions, and the Idle also incorporates perforated foam so you won’t overheat at night. The memory foam contours to your body so you feel cradled through the night, while also reducing motion transfer.
The hybrid mattresses (both the Idle Hybrid as well as the two Latex Hybrid models) have edge-to-edge quantum coils, making a good choice for those seeking greater edge support. They’re also available in your choice of medium-firm, luxury-firm, or even a combination of the two with medium on one side and luxury firmness on the other! Because this mattress is flippable, it also lasts longer than non-flippable mattresses.
In terms of which firmness level you should choose for your Idle Hybrid or Latex Hybrid, keep in mind that combination sleepers will likely sleep well on the medium firmness option. This option registers as a 5.5-7 on a 1-10 firmness scale. The luxury firm choice is great for heavier sleepers (300+ lbs) as well as those who sleep on their backs or stomachs (not sides). It’s about a 7-9 on a firmness scale of 1-10.
Purchase & Delivery Process
Purchasing an Idle Sleep mattress is simple. Just go to their website, choose your mattress model and size, select the firmness level (hybrid mattresses only), and add to your cart. You can pay via credit card, PayPal, or financing (click “Pay Later” at checkout). Shipping is free in the contiguous United States, as are returns. Shipping takes place within 3-6 days of placing your order, and you’ll receive a UPS tracking number so you can track your shipment. If desired, you can choose White Glove Delivery, in which case your new Idle mattress will be set up in your home for you for a fee. They can also remove your old mattress for you.
Adjustable Beds
Idle Sleep offers two adjustable beds: the Adjustable Base and the Adjustable Base Premium. Both models offer an adjustable head (up to 60 degrees), but the Premium also allows you to adjust the feet (up to 45 degrees). The Adjustable Base’s remote control is attached to the bed whereas the Premium has a wireless remote. The Premium has four preset positions and also allows you to save up to two favorite positions.
The Adjustable Base Premium also has an add-on option for Massage and USB Port Upgrade for $150. By choosing the upgrade, your adjustable base will also come with two USB ports so you can charge your electronics easily from your bed. Furthermore, it will give you independent massage settings.
Whether you choose the Adjustable Base or Adjustable Base Premium, they’re each available in 6 sizes: Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen, King, and Split King. Prices start at $649 for the Adjustable Base and at $1145 for the Adjustable Base Premium.
The Adjustable Base can fit into almost all slatless bedframes. Of course, you can also use your Adjustable Base or Adjustable Base Premium on its own. The Adjustable Base comes with a 2-year warranty whereas the Adjustable Base Premium comes with a 10-year warranty. Shipping is free and financing is available, although there is no trial period.

Final Word
Idle Sleep is a great choice for someone looking for a mattress, as they essentially have something for everyone. Whether you want an all-foam mattress, foam hybrid mattress, or latex mattress, Idle has got you covered. With certain models, you can even choose your firmness level — including different firmness levels on either side of the mattress! The only thing that might turn someone off is the higher price for the latex mattresses, however, you can always choose to pay with financing if you can’t swing it upfront. IdleSleep offers one of the longest (if not the longest) trial periods in the market: a full 18 months! Their mattresses also come with a lifetime warranty. If you’re looking for a new mattress, it’s worth it to give Idle Sleep a try.
