The Elm mattress actually offers two firmness levels to choose from which isn’t seen in every brand. They’ve got the Luxury Plush that’s a 5/10 on the firmness level, as well as the Luxury Firm that ranks a 7 and is obviously more firm. The Luxury Plush is advertised as being better for side sleepers since it has more cushioning and pressure relief properties, however I still would prefer a firmer mattress, as a 5/10 is far too soft for me, even as a side sleeper.

The Elm mattress is made with a special 1” gel memory foam to help with cooling for hot sleepers like myself, and while testing it out, this proved to be effective as I didn’t wake up sweating as I tend to.

Like I mentioned before, the Luxury Plush Elm mattress is better for those that sleep on their side and that’s because of the pressure relief that it offers for your shoulders and hips. Since this is a less firm mattress however, this mattress is more likely to provide pressure relief to lighter weight people – as a heavier build, I felt as though I could have used a more firmer mattress.

As the type of sleeper that moves around quite frequently, I found that the Elm mattress adapted to my position, still providing me with comfort throughout the night. This would be credited to the support layer of the mattress made from pocketed coils.

The Elm mattress consists of an under-layer that’s made from 8” individually wrapped hybrid coils to improve motion isolation on the mattress – I performed a test with a glass of water and it more than passed the test, with the glass of water not spilling when I sat on the other side. This makes me more confident that it will be a good mattress option for my partner and I too, but we still have yet to try it out together!

The 8” hybrid coils that I mentioned above when I talked about motion isolation are also wonderful for additional edge support in the mattress, and that’s exactly the thought process Elm mattresses had – built into the mattress to offer additional edge support and avoid even feeling as though you might fall off.
