Overview
If you’re looking for a smart mattress that uses technology to adapt to you, look no further than the Eight Sleep Pod. It’s a four-layer premium foam mattress with features like a thermo alarm and access to an exclusive app that tracks your Sleep Fitness score. The Pod comes with proprietary trackers and sensors that track up to 15 factors connected to your sleep and health including deep sleep, REM sleep, and more. The smart mattresses also come with temperature control and provide smart alarm features, and you can connect your sleep to your home with Smart Home Integrations.
Construction
Eight’s Pod is made with four layers of premium, CertiPUR-US certified foams, which means that they meet rigorous standards for minimizing off-gassing. It is made without harmful chemicals such as formaldahyde, ozone depleters, heavy metals & flame retardants. Each mattress meets the standard of fewer than 0.5 parts per million VOC (volatile organic compounds). There is also a fifth layer (the top layer) which is the Adaptive Grid that tracks your biometric data, relieves pressure, and regulates the temperature as you sleep.
The Pod Layers
- 2 ” Luracor Foam
- 2″ Visco Elastic Memory Foam
- 2″ Transitional Polyfoam
- 5″ High Density Support Polyfoam
- Adaptive Grid
In addition to the five layers that compose the Pod, you’ll also find it powered by a Hub. The Hub acts as a thermal engine, allowing water to flow to the Active Grid to maintain a desired temperature between 55 and 115 degrees. You and your sleep partner can each control your own side of the bed’s temperature by using the Eight Sleep app, which is compatible with iOS and Android devices.
Mattress Cover
The Pod’s cover is made up of a soft yet durable premium fiber blend of cotton and polyester.
Firmness, Feel & Support
The Pod has a medium-firm feel, which most sleepers find comfortable. The four layers of high-density memory foam mean that it does a good job of not transferring motion. This also means that you may experience less bounce with this mattress than you are used to.
As a note, it’s important to remember that the Pod is made to be used with the Adaptive Grid top layer. Some people find the mattress without the grid can feel on the soft-side. Eight Sleep also recommends not allowing your pets on the bed, as this can interfere with the Pod’s tracking abilities.
The Pod can hold up to 500 pounds total.
Purchase & Delivery Process
The Pod can be purchased easily on the company website. Financing is also available, starting at 0% APR for 36 months. Simply choose Affirm at checkout to finance your Pod.
Eight Sleep provides free ground shipping for all mattresses. Typically, the Pod arrives within 6 days of your order date. The Pod arrives in two boxes: one containing the adaptive foam mattress, and the other containing the Hub and Active Grid layer.
If desired, you can choose the in-home delivery service for a fee, though it does not include set-up or installation. Nevertheless, the Pod will be brought to your bedroom so you won’t have to carry it upstairs by yourself. Old mattress removal is also available with this option.
You’ll have a 100-day trial period during which you can try out the mattress. If you think that the mattress hasn’t lived up to Eight’s promises, during the 100 days, you can return it and get a full refund. The foam layers of the mattress comes with a 10-year warranty whereas the Active Grid and Hub come with a 2-year warranty.
Pillow Offerings
The Eight Sleep pillow can help you to sleep soundly. It’s a supportive pillow with a premium finish, but most importantly, it utilizes advanced cooling technology to ensure you don’t spend the night tossing, turning, and sweating.
Filled with carbon-infused foam and a perforated design, the Eight Sleep pillow allows for air to move freely, which prevents heat and moisture from building up inside the pillow. It’s essentially a ventilated pillow and it’s backed by a 5-year warranty, a guarantee that you’re getting one of the most durable, well-built pillows that money can buy.
Try the Eight Sleep pillow for 30-days and send it back for a full refund if it’s not quite what you were expecting.
