Cocoon Mattress

While firmness can be rather subjective, the Cocooon Chili is available in a medium firmness, with a ranking of a 6 on a scale of 1-10.   Since it’s both not too firm and not too soft, it can be a great option for sleepers of all kinds of positions. As someone that tosses and turns all night long it was super comfortable, but I would say it’s probably more of a 7/10 in terms of firmness.  Personally I liked this but if you’re looking for a softer mattress or are on the heavier side this might not be ideal for you.

Other than the affordable prices, the cooling properties of the Cocoon mattresses are its biggest selling point.  The mattress cover is infused with Sealy’s own ‘Phase Change Material’ which is specially designed for hot sleepers such as myself – and is capable of absorbing and dispersing body heat.  You might even feel a little cold with it which is important to take note of, with a 1/10 on the cooling scale.

Memory foam, combined with coils is known to be great for pressure relief, and the Cocoon mattress managed to live up to its expectation while trying it out thanks to these premium materials.

The Hybrid mattress is more responsive than the Memory foam mattress – however this is to be expected with a memory foam mattress. Changing positions isn’t quite as comfortable as it is on the Hybrid version, that’s made with a special responsive coil technology with targeted support.

When it comes to motion transfer, the Cocoon Chili memory foam also does a good job, and is ideal for those that sleep with partners – and especially light sleepers bothered by noise and movement. This is pretty standard for a memory foam mattress to offer, but it’s still always appreciated!

Cocoon mattresses are not great in terms of edge support – especially the foam mattress that doesn’t provide such strong support around the sides. Getting out of bed wasn’t exactly the way I would have liked it to be. If edge support is really important to you, you’re best off with the hybrid version.

Perfect Fit Memory Foam

The top layer of the Cocoon Chill mattress is its perfect fit memory foam layer. As with all high-quality memory foam, it adapts to the size and position of sleepers throughout the night. Active Support Technology Coil Layer (Cocoon Chill Hybrid only)

This layer is made up of fabric-encased coils. The casing reduces motion transfer that one might normally feel with coils, as well as does away with squeaking. Additionally, the coils allow for even great airflow, creating a cool and comfortable sleep environment. A reinforced steel perimeter means this mattress has exceptional edge support.

Support Layers

Sealy has engineered support layers to ensure the bed is resilient and durable. The company uses heavy foam that bounces back after each use.

Cocoon by Sealy’s Chill mattress  and Chill Hybrid mattress manage to keep sleepers cool throughout the night thanks to cooling technology in their stretch-knit mattress cover. If the mattress cover needs to be cleaned, spot-cleaning is recommended with water and gentle detergent.
