Newton Baby Crib Mattress

Newton describes the mattress as “firm enough for infants and comfortable for toddlers,” with the same firmness throughout the core, so it doesn’t need to be flipped as your child grows.

Newton markets its Wovenaire® core as breathable, describing it as roughly 90% air, and says babies can breathe right through it. Newton states the design reduces the risk of suffocation and overheating; those are the brand’s own claims, and we haven’t independently verified them.

The Original’s core is Wovenaire®, which Newton describes as 90% air and 10% food-grade polymer, with no foam, glue, latex, or springs. The cover is a quilted, dual-layer spacer material over a viscose inner cover, and the mattress measures 52″ x 28″ x 5.5″, fitting standard-size cribs according to Newton, which advises measuring the inside of your crib rather than the outside edge. Newton states the mattress meets the CPSC/ASTM F 2933 crib mattress standard, tested by an independent, CPSC-accepted lab, and lists GREENGUARD Gold certification for low chemical emissions. Newton also states the core is made in the USA.

Newton’s zippered, quilted cover is removable and machine washable, and Newton describes the mattress as washable from cover to core. The Waterproof model adds a breathable waterproof liner on one side, which Newton lists as the difference between it and the Original.

Newton advertises free shipping, with delivery in 2 to 4 business days according to its product page, and free return shipping. A footnote on Newton’s homepage limits free shipping to the 48 contiguous US states. Newton also offers a 100-night risk-free trial, stating that if you aren’t happy you can return the mattress at Newton’s expense for a full refund.
