Muse Sleep makes mattresses, mattress covers, and pillows. The company is unique in that it has multiple user types to match their specific needs. The high-quality foam, 12-inch thickness and body temperature regulating fibers make it a great choice, particularly for hot sleepers.
Each Muse Sleep mattress consists of three different layers. Each layer adds support for your entire body as you lay down on the mattress. As you go from a soft mattress to a firm one, it is the middle layer that becomes firmer and provides steadier support.
The mattress also has a cooling effect to fend off the dreaded heat that you expect from mattresses in the summer. The main contributor to the cooling effect is that one of the layers in the mattress has unique gel technology. This prevents heat from being stored in the mattress. The other component of the mattress that keeps you cool during your sleep is the cold wire technology that gives the mattress its unique pattern as well.
Open Cell Foam
The first layer consists of 2″ of open cell foam. This top layer provides the perfect plush feel that you’ll love when you climb into bed at night. Because this layer features an open structure, it provides good airflow to keep you cool at night.
Liquid Gel Memory Foam
The next layer is a 2″ liquid gel memory foam layer. This cooling gel foam resists the hot feel that traditional memory foam tends towards, plus it adapts to your body to keep you comfortable.
Comfort transition foam
Next, you’ll encounter a layer of comfort transition foam. This 2″ layer is reactive to the shape of your body while at the same time isolating you from motion transfer brought on by your partner, children, or pets climbing onto the bed or tossing and turning.
The 6″ foundational foam provides the base of this mattress. Not only is it supportive but it is also durable, able to withstand years of use.
When mattresses trap in heat, it can be uncomfortable and difficult to sleep. The Muse Sleep mattress has an intelligent, phase change cooling cover that relieves overheating issues. It is made from high-performance fibers specialized for temperature regulation. There is a zipper on the cover that makes it easy to remove and wash. You sleep restfully the whole night due to the moisture-wicking fabric on the cover.
Furthermore, a durable jacquard chenille cover on the bottom of the mattress adds a refined look. It can also be removed and machine-washed.
Firmness, Feel & Support
There are three different comfort/firmness levels for you to choose from: soft, medium and firm. Muse Sleep makes the mattress firm by adding a reinforced layer right in the middle of three layers of the foam. For those who are looking for a feeling of sleeping in the clouds, especially if you sleep on your side, go for the soft one. The firm mattress is a great choice for those who sleep on their backs or stomachs. It helps to keep your spine aligned by preventing your hips from sinking into the mattress. The medium mattress is in between the two and can be a good choice for any and all sleeping positions.
How much the mattress sinks when you lie down on it depends on the firmness level you have selected. Despite the size and firmness level of your mattress, the thickness is constant at 12 inches. It will sink the least if you pick the “firm” mattress, and the sinkage will be more for the “soft” version. The temperature regulating foam is not just for preventing the heat from trapping into the foam but is also excellent at motion transfer isolation.
Purchase & Delivery Process
The best way to start off your purchase is to take the sleep personality quiz on Muse Sleep’s website. It defines your sleep personality and recommends the best mattress and pillow based on your needs. Payments can be made via credit card, Amazon Pay, PayPal, or Google Pay. There is also a financing option through Klarna.
After placing your order the mattress gets shipped in very compact packaging. It will arrive at your door via FedEx, and you can expect the delivery to take 5-7 days. You have to give your mattress an expansion time of up to two hours after unboxing it for maximum expansion.
Even if you decide to return the mattress, you don’t have to pay anything out of pocket for the return. Moreover, you have the 120-night sleep guarantee so you can test the mattress and its performance for 120 nights before making a decision about whether to keep it or not.
