Green and Vegan Mattresses:
Avocado’s green and vegan mattresses have similar designs, with the exception being that the vegan mattress does not contain wool. Here is what you can expect in your green or vegan mattress:
Top Layer: GOTS-certified organic cotton ticking which covers the entire the mattress. In the green mattress, you’ll find this followed by a layer of GOTS-certified organic wool. In the vegan version, the wool is replaced with more organic cotton instead.
Dunlop Latex Layer: The Dunlop latex layer is consists of 2 inches of GOLS-organic certified latex that adapts to your body and provides comfortable support. It also has cooling properties.
Coil Layer: This layer is comprised of up to 1414 individually-tuned support coils, which help achieve pressure relief. The coils themselves are made from recycled steel and are grouped in three areas of the mattress including the perimeters, distributing your weight evenly. They are individually wrapped, which helps to decrease motion transfer. Furthermore, they provide substantial edge support thanks to doubly-reinforced perimeters.
Base Layer: The base layer is made up of 1-inch of GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex.
Optional Plush Pillow Top: The plush pillow top layer adds 2 more inches to your mattress. It’s made of a traditional European pillow top that’s been filled with latex rubber foam.
Latex Mattress:
Avocado’s latex mattress, unlike the green and hybrid versions, is not a hybrid mattress. Therefore, it does not include a layer of coils.
Top Layer: A panel of GOTS-certified organic cotton and wool is followed by 2 inches of GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex that contours to your body. Lasers are used to cut out triangular peaks in a zig-zag pattern, on the bottom of the top latex layer facing the support layer. The result is three zones that reduce pressure on areas such as your shoulders and hips.
Support Layer: 3 inches of GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex with a layer of GOTS-certified organic cotton. This addition of cotton keeps the mattress from being overly bouncy.
Base Layer: Finally, the base layer is made up of another 4 inches of certified organic Dunlop latex that is durable and resilient.
Avocado mattresses feature natural and organic materials, such as:
- GOLS-certified Dunlop latex rubber is the best of its kind and features high durability and resilience
- Joma New Zealand wool acts as a fire barrier while keeping moisture, microbes and dust mites away, and further supports temperature control.
- 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton gives the mattress a soft, premium feel and is highly breathable.
