Overview
Since 2004, the Korean sleep brand Zinus has produced BioFoam mattresses infused with natural ingredients, like green tea, active charcoal, and olive oil. The brand’s 14 mattress models (hybrid and memory foam) come in a variety of sizes and thicknesses to assure that all sleepers can find their perfect mattress.
Construction
Each of Zinus’ 14 mattress models features a unique construction. Memory foam models use proprietary BioFoam, while hybrid models combine BioFoam with patented iCoil pocket spring technology.
All foams used in Zinus mattresses are CertiPur-US certified, meaning they are low in VOCs and exclude harmful chemicals and petrol, which are fundamental ingredients in traditional memory foam mattresses. Instead, Zinus replaces harmful phthalates, chemical flame retardants, and formaldehyde with 100% natural ingredients, including green tea extract, olive oil, and active charcoal.
Zinus mattresses are liable to consist of a combination of three or more of the following materials:
- BioFoam – This is Zinus’ proprietary memory foam material, providing body-contouring support and pressure relief. Depending on the model, it may be infused with a natural extract or ingredient. BioFoam appears in all foam and hybrid mattress models.
- Swirl Foam – Appearing in cooling mattress models, this is gel-infused memory foam designed to wick away heat and keep sleepers at a comfortable temperature throughout the night.
- High-Density Foam – Appears in every Zinus mattress model as either a thick base layer or a thin transition layer for hybrid mattresses. It may be used in varying thicknesses as a base, transition, or support layer
- Comfort Foam Layer – This is a soft foam layer that appears in various models as a support or transition layer, working with BioFoam to offer additional pressure relief.
- Olive Oil-Based Foams – This Italian-manufactured memory foam, support foam, and transition foam appear in the Pressure Relief Olive Oil Memory Foam iCoil Hybrid Mattress and the Pressure Relief OEKO-TEX Certified iCoil Mattress.
- Microfiber and Foam Quilted Comfort Layer – Appearing as a top layer on some of Zinus’ most luxurious models, this material provides a super-soft sleep surface.
- iCoil Pocket Springs – Appearing in the majority of the brand’s hybrid models, these individually wrapped pocket coils provide pressure relief and joint support and offer the best motion cancellation.
- Innersprings – These traditional mattress springs appear in Zinus’ most affordable hybrid model, offering firm support.
The volume of each of these layers varies by model and the selected thickness of that model.

Mattress Cover
Zinus uses a knitted jacquard fabric in their mattress covers. Cooling mattress models use gel-infused jacquard to promote breathability and cooling capacity. Mattress covers can be spot cleaned but should not be removed or machine washed.
Two models, the Pressure Relief Olive Oil Memory Foam iCoil Hybrid Mattress and the Pressure Relief Gel Memory Foam iCoil Hybrid Mattress, feature mattress covers with handles for easy mobility.
Firmness, Feel & Support
In general, Zinus mattresses feature medium to medium-soft firmness. For models with customizable thickness, softness increases as thickness increases. For a firmer mattress, choose a thinner model or a hybrid model. Meanwhile, those who prefer a softer, more plush mattress should choose a memory foam or thicker hybrid model.
Zinus mattresses feature a top layer of made of either memory foam or quilted microfiber and foam. Those with a quilted top layer offer a more cloud-like, soft comfort, which models with a memory foam top layer offer a body-conforming sleep experience. For luxurious plush comfort, customers should choose the Pressure Relief Euro Top iCoil Hybrid Model.
If motion transfer is a major concern for you, select one of the hybrid models that feature iCoil technology.
Purchase & Delivery Process
Zinus mattresses are not sold in retail locations; all orders must be made online. Simply select your desired model and thickness, if applicable, and go to checkout. Final Word
For a quality mattress at an unbeatable price, customers can’t go wrong with Zinus. Their mattresses are diverse and address various sleep preferences and issues, notably tacking pressure relief and cooling. In addition to the competitive prices of Zinus mattresses, the brand’s major selling point is its infused BioFoam. Incorporating natural materials like green tea, charcoal, and olive oil is a unique way to keep mattresses fresh and appeals to those looking for a healthy alternative to traditional memory foam mattresses.
Another reason to choose Zinus is because of the sheer variety. Between its all-foam mattresses and its hybrid mattresses, there is an option for most types of sleepers and combinations of sleepers. Unfortunately, people who prefer a truly firm mattress (7 or above on the firmness scale) might be let down by Zinus’ selection, which trends toward medium and medium-soft firmness.
